How to survey the site
If you don’t want to work from the screen, you can download the directions for our Internet Design Service which contain similar instructions.
Begin by sketching the outline of your garden. It doesn’t have to be to scale, but use as large a piece of paper as you can. Then measure each feature in turn and mark the measurement clearly on the plan. Use a tape measure and pull it tight for accuracy.
Tip – metric measurements are easier to convert to a scale plan.
It may help to mark the measurements in a different colour from the sketch. If it becomes too crowded, do separate sketch-plans for different things.
